Art in the Garden
What sets apart a 'nice'
garden from a 'special' exterior space is the attention to detail. This
couple with two young daughters understood this principle and set about
making their garden a reflection of their tastes and experiences.
The landscape was a dust bowl
in the summer and a mud pit in the winter, without any landscaping.
The house occupies most of the lot, leaving narrow spaces around the
property.
We created a sense of
enclosure with dense plantings that reflect the Asian sensibility and color
schemes of the interior. Gracious patios and walkways allow for
outdoor dining and relaxing, and a circular lawn gives small feet a place to
play.
Artistic elements are placed
throughout the garden, infusing it with a sense of place. These
decorations double as clever screens to hide eyesores such as the neighbor's
garage, electric and gas boxes and tall fencing.
